Event Photos
More than 500 people attended the Root Awards event on November 12, 2008, held at the Portland Art Museum’s Grand Ballroom. Andrew Dickson, local performance artist and Wieden & Kennedy copywriter, emceed the gala, and mayor-elect Sam Adams announced two awards, one in the category of Sustainability and one for Portland, World (exported design). Nike designer Kasey Jarvis discussed the company’s green Considered line and Portland Spaces editor in chief Randy Gragg introduced the three recipients of the Masters, or Lifetime Achievement, awards. Ten Tiny Dances performed three lively dances on a stage in the center of the ballroom, while DJ Rev Shines kept the energy going. Most exciting, the event helped raise more than $15,000 for the new Portland Spaces Root Awards Scholarship Fund, which will reward our area’s top students in the fields of architecture, interior design, and the building arts.
