New Product: Fortis Arbor Wood Mosaic
It was a drag that Ann Sacks discontinued the wood tiles I’d been coveting, but here are Flux Studios Fortis Arbor wood mosaics, handcrafted tiles from sustainable and reclaimed hardwoods like teak, walnut, cherry, and also bamboo.
Flux Studios developed a proprietary grout that responds to the particular expansion and contraction characteristics of wood. They say that Fortis Arbor mosaics can even be used on kitchen and bathroom floors…so long as you mop up water quickly. But they’re especially suited for walls, countertops, backsplashes.
The process is that you select a pattern—tone-on-tone basketweave is my favorite, but there wasn’t a good application photo to show—and the tiles are netted to order in the firm’s Chicago Studio.
