I was lucky enough April to attend Portland Institute for Contemporary Art’s Tada Ball, which was a fundraiser for their annual Time-Based Arts Festival (TBA:08). And finally, the official line-up and schedule for TBA:08 is unveiled. This year it will run September 5 through the 14, beginning with a performance on Sept 5 by Antony and the Johnsons.

The TBA:08 festival is, according to PICA, “a culmination of new work created by artists in residence, international artists, emerging new performers, and expansive work from the burgeoning Pacific Northwest.” There will be workshops, installations, lectures, salons, and performances held throughout the city for this 10-day event. Also be sure to check out the late-night hangout, THE WORKS.

Here are some goodies to get you through the entire festival: Check out the full TBA:08 guide here, scan the full schedule, and scour the map of venues. Finally, buy a pass here. Individual tickets are available through August 4.

For a bit of perspective on the event, in 2007, there were:

  • 23,000 audience members
  • 3,700 visitors from outside of Portland, including San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Mexico, Peru, The Netherlands
  • 250+ artists
  • 150+ performances
  • 20+ venues
  • $701,322 spent at non-TBA sites and activities

And here and here are a few run-downs from last year’s festival, via UltraPDX. Let there be art!
