House Tours Galore
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m obsessed with touring houses. I have a look-but-don’t-touch relationship with houses and condos and townhomes. I love to look through ‘em, but I’m not ready to buy one anytime soon.

So, I’m pretty excited about two of Portland’s upcoming tours. The first is coming up quickly: the Ultimate Open House new home tour. The first weekend has already passed, but you have a second chance: April 25-27 (Friday 12-7 pm; Saturday and Sunday 10 am-5 pm) to see almost 100 new condos, townhomes, and custom-designed homes, 38 of which that were built with “green” practices. Five of those are Idea Homes, showing “innovative concepts in new home construction and sustainability.” Whew. That’s a lot to see!

The second is the Historic Irvington Home Tour on May 18 (11 am-5 pm). You’ll get to peek inside eight classic bungalows in Irvington (voyeurism at its best!).
Coinciding is the Portland Bungalow Show, May 17-18 (Saturday 10 am-6 pm and Sunday 10 am-4 pm) at the Ambridge Center, 300 NE Multonmah St. There will be artists, craftspeople, antiques dealers, and workshops/seminars for the bungalow-centric. This is a show after my own heart: There’s also a separately ticketed wine tasting from 7-10 pm on Saturday for $10. Fill out this coupon and you’ll get 50 percent off admission to the show (but not the wine tasting).
