Ok, just warning you: This has nothing to do with design. Or maybe it does? Regardless, does anyone have any idea why there’s a hyphen between “Wait Here” in Portland’s new bike box on SE Hawthorne and 7th?

I mean, really. I just want to go over to it and edit it out, but that’s the grammar nerd in me. My coworker thinks it’s to prevent people from thinking it says “Waithere” but I’d like to think we’re smarter than that ….

maybe they’re trying to create a new noun. it’s not a command, but that area is now called the wait-here. “So I pulled up into the wait-here just behind the bike.”

Ha! That’s the only way it’d make sense grammatically.
