The Design District
A Peek Inside: Another Great Window Display
As a hopeless window shopper (it’s much easier on the wallet) I’m loving finding new candidates for Design District’s window display feature. It’s really made me look a little more closely on how shop owners present their product in clever ways. Case in point: Jewelie Randall from Flora on SW Alder, between 11th and 12th, emailed me after my first post about great window displays with her own example of a great set up. So, I stopped by to check it out.
Jewelie had a mid-century chair she wanted to include in the window, but after a cramped Valentine’s Day display, she really wanted a more open and springy look. What means spring? Green grass! So, she called her husband and asked him to get her a roll of sod at the Home Depot. A few muddy hours later, voila:

“It looks a bit like a Pink Floyd album cover,” she says. “But, it will only last a couple of more days, grass wants to be cool and outdoorsy.” And that was last week; I bet she’s planning a new window display right now.
Seen a clever set up around Portland that’s caught your attention? Send it on: Leave a comment here so we can all check it out, or email me at designdistrict AT portlandspaces DOT net

I agree with Lorre—it’s what’s inside that counts! As a regular shopper at Flora, I can attest: Jewelie’s exquisite taste, eclectic style, and unique finds make this a must on any gift search or self-indulgent foray downtown!! Also, her talents as a (natural) perfumer and herbal alchemist are unmatched anywhere… this shop is not to be missed!

As cool as this window display is, the stuff INSIDE the store is even better! I love, love, LOVE shopping at FLORA!
