Plover Organic

I just got a head’s up about the brand-new Portland-based Plover Organic. Marisa Mercer and Sheila Mulvihill (sisters-in-law) design, block-print and screen the patterns by hand, and they make their quilts, duvets and shams with only 100 percent organic cotton.

The collection is available here in Portland at Odessa, 410 SW 13 Ave or online at one of my favorite online shops, Viva Terra.

I love the springy and light, but not-too-girly prints that all mix-and-match seamlessly. Plus, their website has tons of green-cleaning and care tips. So check it out and support good Portland design!

that’s cool that they have green-cleaning and care tips for laundry, as well as those lovely fabrics.

i am always trying to find more stuff like that online. for example, i haven’t been able to find out what a good green cleaner would be for our just-refinished porcelain (claw-foot) bathtub. i did learn that murphy’s soap is great for hardwood floors, though…

That’s a good question: if anyone has any ideas or experience, please chime in. Otherwise I’ll investigate and see if I can find some info on the best cleaners for porcelain tubs … do you have a vintage claw-foot tub? That’s on my wish-list!
