Who’s going to finance/invest in a 27 story tower in the current real estate market? I think nine floors is doable and actually fits more with the vibe of that corner of the West End. Hope it actually gets built.

I think we all wanted to see a tall tower on this site, but stan’s comments are dead on. It would be pretty tough to get financing in the current and foreseeable market. Still, what’s wrong with this tower? Nine stories isn’t exactly short, and there’s plenty of room in Portland for the talented Jeff Kovell and his team to build tall and skinny towers once the housing market is back. I look forward to this one rising.

I’m seriously bummed this got chopped off…why not wait until the market improves…why build a stumpy little tower that in 5 years will seem like a waste of space…seriously, on Burside…can’t we expect a little more…also…a giant slab wall w/out windows on the west face…blech! It’s really a shame…I actually was pretty excited about the original scale of the project…almost made me like Skylab…almost.
