NW Modern at Bridgeport Village
Saturday June 14 – Sunday, June 22
Here’s the deal: Architect Jim Russell’s Ideabox is a prefabricated modern housing pod that’s made in Oregon, and The Eames-loving furniture pushers at Design Within Reach have completely decked one out for a showcase on modern living that takes place this weekend at Bridgeport Village.
I know what you’re thinking. Modern living… Bridgeport Village? Here’s what’s brilliant about this event. Getting folks in the burbs to experience life in small spaces is a lot more difficult than preaching to already-converted urbanites. What’s more, rising energy costs are forcing the commuter class to think differently about the average suburban home, which often easily exceeds 2,000 square feet. Buildings after all, consume more energy than automobiles. So tell your friends in LO, and check it out for yourself.

I love the idea of the Ideabox, but I find it to be ugly as hell. It’s moving in the right direction, but it still needs work.
