Here’s a presentation that the PDC’s Peter Englander and Sarah Harpole gave yesterday at Wong Kee Restaurant (28 NW 4th Avenue in Chinatown).

Organized by the China Business Network of the Northwest China Council, the luncheon/PPT-party gave an overview of recent activities in Portland’s Old Town/Chinatown, including development projects planned and currently underway (like the hotly anticipated Uwajimaya/Block 32/33 plan).

The PDC presentation also highlighted opportunities and challenges (which if you use the Chinese word weiji can frequently be one and the same) for looming real estate development in the area. Notably the presentation also allowed for discussion on how to nurture and cultivate Chinese investors and businesses.

I still think it’s a horrible idea to build a Resource Access Center in Portland. I think the homeless population will explode in PDX. It will be a magnet for the homeless from all over the West to come to Portland for services. It will be a big mistake.
